Avery High JROTC change in Battalion Command
Avery High JROTC change in Battalion Command ceremonies take place each semester in order to establish continuity in the chain of command through the summer and into the fall semester, when formal inspections are held. Cadets, under the leadership of Col. Robert (Boe) Barinowski and Lt. Dean Franklin, are chosen for this promotion because they have exhibited qualities of leadership. Barinowski was careful to point out that promotions are earned and can be taken away if responsibilities are not met. Congratulations to sophomore Larkin Hawkins, the new battalion command sergeant major, and to sophomore Grayson Renfro, the new BN commander. According to Barinowski, “This is the first time I have installed a rising junior in as BN Cdr or CSM instead of a rising senior. These two young men are great and I made the decision to reward according to merit and not class seniority.”
