Fall Creek Fire Department No. 2 will be hosting an open house and barbeque dinner at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. They will be serving a choice of barbeque and fried chicken, with beans, coleslaw, corn and choice of a roll or a bun, all at a great price. Southern gospel group, Mercy’s River, will be there to perform. They will also have activities for the kids, including having the “smoke” house, as well as having the fire trucks out for everyone to view. Fall Creek Fire Department No. 2 is located in the Beech Creek Community, on Buckeye Road. Come on out, and have a great time with the entire family.
Beech Mountain Community Center will host an Alumni Homecoming for all former students and teachers of Beech Mountain Elementary School at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10. We will also be serving your choice of barbeque and fried chicken, with baked beans, potato salad, slaw, chips, drinks, and dessert. We will start serving food at 5 p.m. The price for adults is $5. The price for children six to 12 years of age is $2, while children six and under eat for free. We will also be raffling off a handmade quilt made by the ladies of the Beech Mountain Community Center Quilters. It is $1 per ticket, or six tickets for $5. We will also be having local talent to perform as well. Please bring lawn chairs for outside music if weather permits. Come on out, and enjoy a day of fun and fellowship with old and new friends.
