This past Saturday, Beech Mountain Community Club had its third annual Beech Mountain Community Club Golf Tournament at Mountain Glen Golf Course in Newland. We had close to 40 participants for the event, and they were divided into 10 teams.
The winning team in A Flight was Chris Greene, Tori Greene, Stephen Haynes and Sandy Humphrey, who had a score of 57. Our second place team in A Flight was Tommy Reece, John Bentley, Bill Buetell and David Tedder, who had a score of 60. The first place team in B Flight was Zach Ward, John Malone, Tom Enterline and Raeford Russell, who had a score of 63. Our second place team in B Flight was Randell Ward, Larry Ward, Arville Ward and Jamie Ward, who had a score of 64. The winner of Longest Drive contest on Hole 2 was Derek Miller.
The winners of the Closest-to-the-Pin contests were Ted Harmon on Hole 4, Tom Enterline on Hole 8, Tori Greene on Hole 12 and Kenny Taylor on Hole 15. Congratulations to all of our top finishers in the tournament, and many thanks to all of our participants. We also want to take this time to thank Brad and Carla Estep for all of their hard work in setting up the tournament, and for making it such a success. A big thank you also goes out to the Beech Mountain Community Club, which volunteered their time and talents for the event and to Buchanan Realty and Beverly Guy Accounting for their sponsorship. The golf tournament was a huge success, and we look forward to having it again next year.
Beech Mountain Community Club will host its monthly business meeting at 7 p.m. this Thursday, Sept. 19.
