Beech Mountain Community News 9.20.12

Jason Jones / (

This past Saturday, Sept. 15, Beech Mountain Community Club hosted its 2nd annual Beech Mountain Community Club Golf Tournament at Sugar Mountain Golf Course. We had 31 participants for the event, and they were divided into eight teams. The winning team was Bobby Thames, Reggie Hayes, Adam Byerly and Bruce Parker of Charlotte, which had a score of 52. Our second place team was Roscoe Millsaps, Derek Miller, Derrick Hartley and Brad Holder of Boone, which had a score of 53. The third place team was Jason Eldreth, Matt Krause and Shea Jones, which had a score of 55. Congratulations to all of our top finishers in the tournament, and many thanks to all of our participants. We also want to take this time to thank Brad and Carla Estep for all of their hard work in setting up the tournament, and for making it such a success. A big thank you also goes out to Beech Mountain Community Club, which volunteered time and talents for the event, and to Buchanan Realty and Beverly Guy Accounting for their sponsorship. The golf tournament was a huge success, and we look forward to having it again next year.
Beech Mountain Community Club, as well as the entire Beech Mountain community would like to express our sympathy and condolences to the family of Matthew Trivett.
Beech Mountain Community Club will host its monthly business meeting at 7 p.m. this Thursday, Sept. 20.
It will soon be time for our biggest event of the year! Beech Mountain Community Club will host its annual Harvest Festival starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27. There will be all sorts of fun games, great food and, of course, bingo. Come on out, and join us for this great autumn tradition.
Even though summer will soon be coming to an end, and we will see the beginning of the autumn season, there is always something fun and exciting going on at Beech Mountain Community Center. Beech Mountain Community Club offers craft classes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday. Some of the crafts that you will have the opportunity to learn include quilting, sewing, making handbags and rug hooking. Later this summer, they will offer canning and jelly/jam making classes. Everyone who is participating is encouraged to bring a covered dish. Our gym is open for walking from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Our lending library and community closet is open from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays. They have jewelry making classes starting at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays. Crocheting and rug hooking classes are available at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays. Line dancing classes are available at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays. We also have many new clothing and household items in our community closet. Come on out, and enjoy everything that Beech Mountain Community Center has to offer.
Beech Mountain Community Club needs volunteers for its lending library, children’s library, craft center and community closet. If you are interested in helping, contact Beech Mountain Community Club at (828) 898-5051. Any donations you can make to our libraries or community closet would be greatly appreciated as well.

Please remember to keep those who are sick, as well as those who are going through a difficult time, in your thoughts and prayers.
I hope that everyone has a great week, and may God bless you.
