Fatty Maddy Beer Company prepares for summer debut in Banner Elk

A new brewery is preparing to open up shop near Banner Elk, hoping to provide craft beer distribution for local businesses, rather than bottling or canning.

Justin Curtis and Drew Wallace are two LMC alumni who left the area after graduation, but each found their way back. Far from a spur of the moment endeavor, according to Curtis, the new business — named Fatty Maddy Beer Company after Curtis’ unfortunately proportioned cat — has been years in the making.
