Special night for Avery County seniors

The Avery County Senior Center partnered with Avery County Parks and Recreation to host its second “Senior Prom” at the Avery County Parks and Recreation building on Friday, May 3.
The seniors entered the building via arches decorated in a comprehensive “Carnival” theme. The seniors enjoyed dancing to the sounds of the oldies and had the opportunity to purchase pictures on site and order pictures from the event.
Thanks to the event’s success, Avery County Senior Center and Avery County Parks and Recreation have been asked to continue to make the Senior Prom an annual event.
Avery County Senior Center and Avery County Parks and Recreation thanked Tracy Brewer Photography, Jean Moree Photography, Life Care Center of Banner Elk, Medi Home Hospice, Gwen Clark with Avery County High School, Deerfield Ridge Assistant Living, Joe Trivette, MHS technologies, Carl J. Greiwisch and the many volunteers for helping make the Senior Prom possible.
