Toe River Storytelling Festival July 14

Now in its 14th year, Toe River Storytelling Festival has a new location – Bakersville – and a new board, but the same high quality of storytellers to entertain, inspire and motivate the hundreds of guests that attend the event annually.

The new board, which consists of Sherry Lovett, Daniel Barron and Kay Goins, has worked hard to bring in some of the best storytellers in the nation. Michael Reno Harrell, Kim Weitkamp, Suzi Whapples, David Novak and Becky Stone will regale listeners with a variety of tales that range from personal anecdotes to classic folktales.

The format of the festival will be consistent with years past. Toe River Storytelling Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, with nonstop storytelling. A food vendor will be on hand, allowing the audience to enjoy hotdogs, hamburgers and a vegetarian option. The festival will include a new feature this year: a short family program at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 13, at Bakersville Courthouse, followed by a workshop for storytellers. Weitkamp will provide both the family program and the storytellers’ workshop. To find out more about the festival, click to http://www.toeriverstorytelling.org.
