AHS honors class of 2013 at Senior Awards night

More than $700,000 in scholarships and awards was distributed among many of the 138 students that comprise Avery High School Class of 2013 at its annual senior awards ceremony, held on Thursday, May 30, at Viking Gym.

Senior students, along with family and friends, attended the ceremony, as 113 separate scholarships and awards were distributed during the evening's festivities.

AHS Principal Todd Griffin, ACS Superintendent David Burleson, Avery County Board of Education Chairman John Greene and ACS Director of Student Services Jamie Johnson addressed the students with congratulations, remarks and words of advice.
