Avery County Farm City Banquet honors farmers

Avery County Farm City Banquet took place on Feb 1 at First Baptist Church in Crossnore. The Peacemakers provided musical entertainment with gospel favorites during the dinner catered by Dan’l Boone Inn.

Graham Avery, Abigail Griffith and Mackenzie Griffith won the Youth in Agriculture Award.

Teacher of the Year went to Ann King of Avery Middle School.

The Avery County 4-H Partnership Award was awarded to Reich College of Education at ASU.

Woman in Agriculture went to Edna Vance.

The Boyd McCloud Memorial Volunteer of the Year award went to Jerry Moody.

Farm family of the year went to the Horneys.

Alicia Hicks received the Champion of Children Award.

The Farm City Banquet was a joint effort of Avery County FFA, Avery County Cooperative Extension, Avery County 4-H and Avery Soil and Water Conservation District, with sponsorships by Avery County Farm Bureau, Blue Ridge Propane, Carolina Farm Credit and United Community Bank.
