Avery public schools spend slightly more than statewide average

A recent report by the Public School Forum of North Carolina found that Avery County public schools spend slightly more than average for the state per student on education. The amount of money available to be spent on each student is dependent in part to the taxable property values in the school’s county. Avery’s property values currently allow for $1,885.10 to be spent per student, while $1,486 is the statewide average.
