Veterinarian Brent Jewell has built his practice on customer service.

"You'd never want your pet to suffer or be in pain, and that's our goal, to make sure pets are comfortable no matter what stage they are in life and regardless of what their needs might be," Jewell said during a visit to Avery Animal Hospital at 351 West Mitchell Street in Newland. "I feel we do a good job of following through on cases and we make sure animals are taken care of from beginning to end. Communication and service are important to me."

Growing up in a household with a physician for a father, Jewell always enjoyed the sciences and grew up around animals.
