Equipment repairs highlight abbreviated Elk Park Board of Aldermen meeting

Jamie Shell / (jamie.shell@averyjournal.com)

Reports on town repairs dominated the brief February meeting of Elk Park Board of Aldermen on Monday, Feb. 3.

Alderman Mike Smith reported that fence repairs made at the town’s sewer plant will take place once warmer weather settles into the area and allows for multiple work days at the damaged fence location. Utilities supervisor Otis Ward informed the board that the pump approved for purchase during the board’s January meeting was bought and installed at the booster station. In addition, town maintenance employee Tyler Boone explained to the board that a solenoid was repaired on the bed of the town’s dump truck. He added that a wire cover was included with the repairs to protect the wires from being damaged by salt and outside elements, the likely cause of the recent bed malfunction.

In other news and notes:

• Smith commended the town maintenance staff for the work they had done during the recent bad weather in maintaining neighborhood roads and overall performance.
