Frye named to national committee

Avery Sheriff Kevin Frye has been nominated to the National Sheriffs' Association Small, Rural Sheriffs Committee.
The Small, Rural Sheriffs Committee is made up of sheriffs who serve in departments made up of 100 personnel or less, which is 85 percent of all sheriffs' departments nationwide. These smaller departments often have fewer resources. As rural departments, they also face unique challenges.
“Avery County certainly fits into that description,” Frye said. “I find it an honor to be asked to be on the committee. I hope to serve proudly.”
The committee’s purpose is to determine how to best serve these smaller departments and their interests.
