Highway 19E reopens through Spruce Pine

After seven months of detouring traffic through Spruce Pine,
road crews have reopened the bridge on Highway19E at Spruce Pine. As of presstime, only a single
lane of traffic was open in each direction, and construction crews were at work preparing the bridge
and its other two lanes to accept traffic. Cranes and other heavy equipment were still active on the
bridge.
