The students in Mayland Community College’s Avery Campus phlebotomy classes recently completed 130 hours of class and lab hours as well as 80 clinical hours. The phlebotomy program includes communication skills when working with patients, selection of venipuncture sites, care of blood specimens, record keeping and equipment maintenance. Students can sit for an ASPT Exam in which they can earn a National Certification. The next phlebotomy class at the Avery Campus begins at 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 4.
