The streets of Newland were filled with lights, floats, classic cars, horse-drawn carriages, fire trucks and hundreds of spectators on Saturday, Dec. 8, for the 2012 Newland Christmas Parade and Celebration, organized by Newland Business Association through Veronica Brocco. The parade began at Lowe’s Foods and proceeded to Newland Town Square, where the participants disembarked their floats and joined in a Christmas celebration on the square.
ACHS Band provided Christmas music while the crowds enjoyed a tree-lighting ceremony, trees decorated by local schools, a visit from Santa Claus, hotdogs provided by Boy Scout Troop 888 and more refreshments at Baptist Church of Newland.
