Precious memories: Town of Elk Park preserving history

Workers at Elk Park Town Hall have been busy gathering details for a pair of special displays on its premises.

Following more than two years of research and appeals for photos, news clippings and other information, Elk Park Mayor John Boone, with assistance from town clerk Connie Guinn and local residents, have compiled an exhaustive list of former mayors and board of aldermen members for the town dating back to 1927.

“We started researching records for our former mayors more than two years ago,” Boone said. “We compiled the mayors and exact years they served, along with the aldermen and most of the terms when they served the town. We also found names of the first mayor and three board members from our original charter in March 1885.”
