From 6:30 to 10 p.m., this Thursday, June 20, the Step Up for Yellow Mountain Auction will take place at the Williams YMCA Chapman Center. Attendees will have the opportunity to bid on more than 200 items and services in live and silent auctions. Roy Krege, Mr. Woolly Worm, will serve as auctioneer for the live auction. Items up for bidding include gift certificates, tickets to events, art items, a NASCAR package and more. According to YME Executive Director David Tate, the auction will benefit not only his organization, but also local business and the community.
“All of the items auctioned are donated by businesses. It helps out the people who come to the auction because they get a good deal on something and the event is free,” Tate said. Complementary homemade finger foods, desserts, coffee and tea will be served.
For those interested in taking an active approach, the third annual Step Up for Yellow Mountain 5k Race and Walk-a-Thon kick off at 7:30 a.m., on Saturday, June 22, at the Arthur-Lauristen-Sanders Track at LMC Athletic Complex. Race registration is from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m., followed by opening ceremonies at 8:50 a.m. The race commences at 9:10 a.m. with awards following at 10:15 a.m. Registration fee for the race is $25. Trophies will be awarded in six age categories for both male and female participants.
