You still have time to get in your early vote for municipal elections in Avery County. One-stop voting and registration at the Board of Elections office is going on now until Nov. 2.

“If you are not registered to vote you may register to vote right now. Only if you live in a municipal district can you register and then turn around and vote. Regular registration closed on Oct. 11,” Board of Elections Director Sheila Ollis said.

Voters who reside outside of municipal districts were required to have registered before Oct. 11 if they have not registered in the past. Municipal districts include Crossnore, Banner Elk, Sugar Mountain, Elk Park, Grandfather Village and Newland. If you are already registered to vote, vote early from now until Nov. 2 at the Board of Elections office or vote on Election Day, Nov. 5, at a municipal polling place.
