A. D. McKinney
A. D. McKinney, 80, of Shell Creek in Roan Mountain, Tenn., passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at his residence. He was born in the Belview Community of Cranberry, to the late Frank Pearson, Sr. and Emma Ollis McKinney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Coy McKinney and Jerry McKinney; three brothers, Frank McKinney, Earl McKinney, and Ralph McKinney; and two sisters, Helen Lowe and Daisey Hughes.
Mr. McKinney was a road construction worker and attended Elk Park Baptist Church. He loved his family, his church, woodworking and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte McKinney, of the home; one daughter, Kathy McKinney, Elk Park; two brothers, Jim McKinney, Florida; and George McKinney, Johnson City, Tenn.; two sisters, Wilma Boone, Roan Mountain; and Ann Ollis, Plum Tree; step-children, Chad Hoilman and wife, Trista, Junior Hoilman and wife, Christy, and Lisa Norwood and her husband, Danny; grandchildren, Arcos McKinney and wife, Cheyenne, Amanda Blair and husband, Brian, Christie Burkett, all of Roan Mountain; Angie Hill and husband, Scott, Elizabethton, Tenn.; and LeeAnn Osborne and husband, Shannon, Bluff City, Tenn. Several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and special nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. McKinney will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2013, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, Tenn., with the Rev. Jim Story and the Rev. Donald Gregg, officiating. A eulogy will be given by Chub Johnson and Jude Hughes. Music will be provided by members of Belview Church and Elk Park Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Sunday.
A graveside service will follow in the Belview Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Arcos McKinney, Brian Blair, Shannon Osborne, Chad Hoilman, Junior Hoilman, Jimmy Norwood, Shane Hayward, Josh Hayward, Johnny Lowe, and Dennis Hollars.
