Al Barham

Al Barham, 78, of Boone, died on Dec. 28, 2013, at home.

Born June 4, 1935, in Livingston County, Ill., Barham was the oldest of the late Harb and Lucy Barham's seven children.

To know him was to love him. He loved people and they loved him back. Always proud of his Korean War service, he cherished the life long friends he made there. An active member of the Bonita Springs, Fla., Lions Club, until moving to North Carolina in 1998, Barham enjoyed serving his community, working on projects and committees, holding numerous offices and ultimately was honored with the prestigious Melvin Jones Award.

Barham is survived by his loving wife of almost 41 years, Susan, and son, Jim, of Boone; daughter, Sharon, and grandson, Mark, of Illinois; siblings, Mary Rodneff, Linda Oliver, and Kenny Barham, of Florida, Jan Massey of Tennessee, and numerous wonderful relatives. He is preceded in death by siblings, Ron Barham and Shirley Hutchinson.

Memorial services will be held at a future date in Boone, Florida and Illinois.
