Betty Kaye Buchanan

Betty Kaye Buchanan, 64, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., and formally of Roaring Creek, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at her residence.
A native of Avery County, she was born May 14, 1948, a daughter of the late Colonel and Radie Hughes.
Along with her parents, Buchanan was preceded in death by her; husband, Avery Buchanan; sister, Paula Hughes.
Buchanan has left to cherish her memory her daughter, Wyndy Pritchard of Newland; son, Michael Buchanan of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; grandchildren, Briana Pritchard of Roan Mountain, and Jacob "Jake" Pritchard of Newland; great-granddaughters, Zayleigh Townsend, and Leah Buchanan; brothers, Doug Hughes, Dan Hughes, Jerry Hughes, Jack Hughes, Joey Hughes, and Jeff Hughes; sister, Lucy Jones; also, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Buchanan were conducted 2 p.m Saturday, March 30, 2013, in the Grandfather Chapel with the Rev. Jody Almond officiating. Interment followed in the Hughes Cemetery on Jerry's Creek. The family received friends for one hour prior to the services.
