Bobby Fletcher Winters

Mr. Bobby Fletcher Winters, 73, of Hampton, Tenn., and beloved husband and father, passed away 2:13 p.m.on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center after fighting a good fight. A native of Avery County, he was a son of the late Corbett and Lena Daniels Winters. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Roland.

Bob was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in the 328th Airborne Division from 1957-1962. He was a truck driver for 38 years, member of Hampton Church of God, the Cranberry Lodge #598 and member of the Scottish Rite.

Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Sue Goodwin Winters; daughter, Mitzi Huffman and husband, Wayne, of Holden Beach; two granddaughters, Hayden and Jordan Huffman; sisters, Doris Birchfield of Charlotte, and Leslie Honeycutt of Morganton; and a brother, Jimmy Jones and wife, Rosemary, of Gettysburg, Pa.

The family invited friends to a memorial service to honor and reflect upon a life that made a difference, which was held 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Hampton Church of God on 1st Avenue in Hampton, Tenn. To send online condolences, please visit our website at
