Charles B Smith

Charles B. Smith, 79, of Land Harbor passed away on Dec. 1, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 3, 1934, in Knoxville, Tenn., a son of the late Edgar Lee and Edith Crews Smith.
Smith was a member of the Mountainside Luthern Church in Linville and enjoyed fishing, racing and going to auctions.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Smith; sisters, Myra Chandler and Norma Jean Smith; an infant brother and a great grandchild.
A well liked man and handy man who could do many things, Smith has left to cherish his memory his wife, Angie Smith of the home; children, Teresa Beaudoin of Sylvia, Melinda Smith of Newport News, Va., Beverly Setzer of Newton, Lisa Friend McCoy and husband, Randall, of Hickory, Doug Smith of Newton, Carrie Christy and husband, Adam, of Taylorsville, Callie Smith of Taylors, S.C.; 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Smith will be conducted 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at the Mountainside Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dennis Quakenboss officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the services. There will also be a service 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont with interment to follow in the Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the services.
