Curtis 'Spot' Ward

Curtis "Spot" Ward, 58, of Minneapolis, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at his residence.
He was a son of the late Ira and Ester Ollis Ward.
Ward was a member of the Minneapolis Methodist Church. He was an owner and partner in Happy Holiday Christmas Trees; a member of the Avery County Christmas Tree Growers Association, North Carolina Christmas Tree Growers Association, and the National Christmas Tree Growers Association.
An avid golfer, Ward was a member of the Mountain Glen Golf Club and enjoyed motorcycles and traveling.
A devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather, Ward leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Joann Buchanan Ward; daughters, Beth Wright and her husband, Eric, Lindsey Harris and her husband, Allen; brother, Kenny Ward and his wife, Debbie; sisters, Lucy Avery, Lois Winters and her husband, Bob; grandchildren, Carson and Justin Wright; father- and mother-in-law, Buddy and Louise Buchanan.
The family received friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at the Mountain Glen Club House. Services to celebrate his life were held 11 a.m. on Friday morning at the club house.
Private interment was in the Minneapolis Cemetery.
The family would like to offer a very special thank you to Carol Smith of Medi Home Hospice, and respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Medi Home Hospice, PO Box 1357, Newland, NC 28657, or to the Seby Jones Cancer Center.
