Dale Spencer Phillips

Dale Spencer Phillips, 76, of Franklin, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013.

Born in Avery County, he was the son of the late Spencer and Ella Fae Woodring Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George Phillips and Paul Allen Phillips, and a sister, Barbara Brown.

Phillips was a member of Coweeta Baptist Church, where he served as trustee and usher. He enjoyed golf and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joanne McGuire Phillips; daughter, Dena Davis and husband, Chuck, of Elk Park; two sons, Maurice Phillips and wife, Grace, and Ricky Phillips and wife, Angie, all of Franklin; brother, Glenn Phillips of Butler, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Daniel Davis, Mandy Taylor and Spencer Phillips; three great grandchildren, Terri Davis, Jacob Davis, and Mason Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service was held 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. The Rev. Davis Hooper and the Rev. Frank Rodriquez officiated. Private burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family received friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.

Memorial donations can be made to the Coweeta Baptist Church Building Fund, 780 Coweeta Church Road, Otto, NC 28763.
