David Lee Franklin

David Lee Franklin, 72, of Newland went to be with the Lord on Nov. 25, 2013.
A native of Jonas Ridge, he was born Nov. 8, 1941, a son of the late Mr.and Mrs. Gromer Franklin.
Franklin enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to church and spending time with is family. He was a deacon and song leader of Jonas Ridge Baptist Church.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Franklin of Jonas Ridge.
Franklin has left to cherish his memory his wife, Emma Franklin of 53 years; daughter, Lee Ann Freeman and son-in-law, Dean Freeman, of Jonas Ridge; grandson and best friend, Zachary Freeman; brothers, Ray Franklin of Marion and Jack Franklin of Morganton; sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Steve Swint of Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Eula and Danny Harrison of Jonas Ridge; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Barbara Franklin of Jonas Ridge; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Sabo Franklin of Newland; brother and sister-in-law, Omer and Paula Franklin of Morganton; sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Kenny Carver; sister-in-law Edna Franklin of Jonas Ridge; many nieces, nephews and special friends and best buddy, Sam, his Miniature Dashund of the home.
Funeral services for Franklin will be conducted 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, in the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with Pastor Jude Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the service hour. Graveside services will be held 12 p.m. Saturday Nov. 30, at the Jonas Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Mitchell County Hospice.
