Dorothy Hartley Townsend

Dorothy “Dot” Hartley Townsend, of Linville, was born on Aug. 25, 1927, and went to be with the Lord on Sept. 3, 2013.
She was a lifelong resident of Linville and a member of the Linville United Methodist Church.
Townsend served as a hairdresser for many years in Avery County and also devoted her life to helping others.
Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, Willie Townsed; and seven brothers and two sisters.
Left to cherish her memory are two special cousins, Thomas Hartley and Chloe Stewart; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Dorothy "Dot" Townsend were held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, in the Grandfather Chapel of the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with the Revs. Roland Mullinix and Ted Henry officiating. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour Thursday. Family, friends, and pallbearers gathered at 10:15 a.m. Friday at the funeral home to go in procession to the Tanglewood Cemetery for interment.
