Eddie Carson McCoury Jr.

Mr. Eddie Conway Carson McCoury Jr., 68, passed away July 29, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital.

McCoury was born on August 30, 1944, in Avery County, to the late Eddie Conway Carson McCoury Sr. and Anna Barbara Roth. On June 15, 1962, he married Mona Sue Potter McCoury, who preceded him in death on November 21, 1998. McCoury was also preceded in death by four siblings, Tommy McCoury, T.Y. McCoury, David McCoury, and Colleen Martinek.

McCoury was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan M. Bennett and her husband, Rick, of Summerfield; sons, Eddie Conway Carson McCoury III and his wife, Cindy, McCoury of Archdale, and James Patrick McCoury and his wife, Nell, of Greensboro; grandchildren, Jessica Ann McCoury, Heather Elaine McCoury, Jonathan Tyler McCoury, Christopher Scott Bennett, Ewan McIver Foster, Jameson Conway McCoury, Emily Danielle Bennett, and Ashley Nicole Bennett. Also surviving are his sisters, Rosa King of Indiana, Mary Perez of High Point, Bertha Young of Newland, Sheila Perry of Banner Elk, and Bobbie Ward of Raeford.

The family is very grateful and thanks Dr. Vicki Stovall, Dr. Jeanne Zekan, Dr. Adeyinka Adegoroye and staff of High Point Nephrology Associates PA for the devoted caregivers to McCoury over the years. The family also acknowledges Dr. Wayne Beauford, Dr. Stephen Sanders, High Point Kidney Center & Staff and Thomasville Kidney Center for the care given to our dad over the years.

A service to celebrate McCoury’s life will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2013, in the chapel of Sechrest Funeral Service, 120 Trindale Rd, Archdale. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:15 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2013. McCoury will be laid to rest with his wife, Mona, at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.

McCoury children would like to invite family and friends for a covered dish gathering to continue the celebration of McCoury’s life with cards, games, stories and fellowship at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013, at the Groome Inn, 4719 Groometown Rd, Greensboro, NC.
