Emma Mae Greer Kultgen
Emma Mae Greer Kultgen, 77, won her long fought battle with Alzheimer's disease on Sept. 15, 2012, at Libby's House Plymouth.
Kultgen was born April 30, 1935, in Boone, one of eight children of the late Roscoe and Lois Miller Greer. Emma graduated from Appalachian High School, Boone. After graduation, Kultgen joined the United States Marine Corps and met her husband Elmer Kultgen. Elmer and Emma Kultgen were married May 26, 1956. Elmer preceded her in death on February 10, 2004.
Kultgen's proudest moments were taking care of her family, friends and animals. She started to work "outside the home" at Memorial Hospital in the kitchen, later discovering she enjoyed being a CNA and she worked at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home.
She always enjoyed things at home. Kultgen enjoyed baking, sewing and gardening. She was like a second mom to several of her children's friends, and always had a place where kids felt at home. Kultgen had a love for all animals, but always had a love for cats.
Kultgen is survived by her children, Joseph Kultgen of California., Theresa (Ronald) Flinn of Manitowoc, Wis., Jeffrey Kultgen of Colorado, Dennis (Lena) Kultgen and Dorothy Browne of Sheboygan, Wis.; her grandchildren, April (Doug) Sundlin, Shannon (Nick) Betz, Bruce Flinn, Alan (Amanda) Kultgen, Kimberly Kultgen, Anna (Matthew ) Strean, Crystal (Matthew) Maldonado, Kyle Marr (special friend Brooke Haese) and Kari Marr. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Wyatt Sundlin, Taylor, Keagen, Payton Betz, Emilee and Azsha Strean, and Audrey Maldonado. She is further survived by her brothers and sisters, Leonard (Marny) Greer, Lena Norris, Grant (Ethel) Greer, Elton (Shirly) Greer, Betty Greer, Johnny (Doris) Greer, Gail (David) Hayes; her in-laws, Jerry (Doris) Kultgen, Leroy (Delores) Kultgen, Kenneth Kultgen, and Mildred Kultgen; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends .
In addition to her husband, Elmer Kultgen, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael; brother, Jack Greer; and son-in-law Michael Browne.
Memorial services are scheduled 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept.29, 2012, at Zimmer's Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center. Friends may call at the funeral home 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of service. Per Emma's request that her family and friends not travel, a memorial will be held at a later date in Boone for family and friends.
The family would prefer memorials be given as donations to the Sheboygan Humane Society, Manitowoc Humane Society or charity of your choice.
