Frances Earnest Waters

Dr. Frances Earnest Waters, 79, of Banner Elk, passed away on Jan. 12, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center.
She was born June 6, 1934, in Kingsport, Tenn., a daughter of the late Walter and Anna Mae McClaine Earnest.
Waters was a member of St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church in Blowing Rock, where she sang in the choir and was involved in the Women's Studies.
She earned her doctorate of philosophy, was a music teacher and enjoyed music, painting and sharing knowledge.
Along with being a musician, educator, creative and artistic, Waters was a devoted wife and mother who has left to cherish her memory her husband, Joseph Waters of Banner Elk and additional residence in Boone Lake, Tenn.; sons, Evan Waters of Bisbee, Ariz., and Larry Waters and wife, Katheryne, of Louisville, Ky.; granddaughter, Caroline Waters of Louisville; grandson, John Waters of Louisville.
A celebration of the life of Waters will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at the St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church in Blowing Rock with inurnment to follow in the St. Mary of the Hills Mary Garden.
