Glenda Houston Logan

Glenda Houston Logan, 60, of Powder Mill, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, in Mission Hospital.

A native of Avery County, she was a daughter of the late Horton Woodrow and Mildred Oakes Houston. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Buddy Orville Calloway.

Logan was an animal lover, loved gardening and being outdoors. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was an avid reader, down to earth and a free spirit.

Surviving are son, Chris Calloway and wife, Jolene, of Powder Mill; sister, Wanda Buchanan and husband, Terry, of Spruce Pine; brother, Buddy Houston and wife, Debbie, of Powder Mill; and two granddaughters, Taylor Calloway and Ashley Carpenter. Several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held 12 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, in Yellow Mountain Baptist Church. The Rev. Jeff Brewer officiated. Burial was in the Houston Cemetery.
