In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Jones.
She was married, Aug 10, 1942, to Earnest Monroe Hicks who preceded her in death, Sept 16, 1947.
Surviving are one daughter, Edna Ware of Corpus Christy, Texas; five sisters, Hazel Shores of Lenoir, Esther Hopson and husband, Hamilton, and Ella Mae Hopson all of Newland, Sylvia Strickland of Thomasville and Florence Morrison of Lexington; two brothers, Eldridge Hughes of Thomasville and James Hughes and wife, Opal, of Lexington; three grandchildren, Christina, Laura and Jimmy; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special niece Louise Bostic and husband, James, of the home.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept 23, 2012, in J. C. Green & Sons Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Patrick and the Rev. Max Shoaf officiating.The family will greet friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Sunday, the hour of the service at the funeral home.
