Hazel Freeman Stroud

Hazel Freeman Stroud, 70, of Lake Lure, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013. at Hospice of Rutherford County with her loving family by her side.

Stroud was born in Avery County on April 15, 1943, and was a daughter of the late Georgia Freeman.

Stroud loved being a homemaker and was known by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Preceding her in death was two children, Emma Stamper and Gary Rose.

Surviving are her husband, John Stroud, of the home; three stepchildren; brother, Donald Freeman and wife, Jeannie, of Black Mountain; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, in Westmoreland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Poteat officiating. The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Stroud Cemetery.
