Helen J Pittman



Helen J. Pittman, 81, of Kingsport, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013.

Pittman was born in Avery County; however, she lived most of her life in Kingsport. She worked for many years as a Medical/X-ray Technician at Holston Defense.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Stokes and Winnie Pittman; sister, Ruth P. Braswell and husband, Hale; brother, Jack Richard Pittman; and brother-in-law, Edwin L. Banner.

Left to cherish her memory are her significant other, Whit Cross; a sister, Beryl P. Banner; a sister-in-law, Martha W. Pittman; three nieces, Sherry Bishop and husband, John, Donna P. Singleton and husband, Junior, and Caroline Warren and husband, Brent; two nephews, Jack Pittman and Jim Pittman; and several great-nieces and nephews.

The funeral service were conducted 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel at Oak Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Jones, officiating.

The committal service followed in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel. Ms. Pittman was laid to rest in Oak Hill Mausoleum Number II at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Frank Presbyterian Church, Squirrel Creek Road, Newland, NC 28657 or the Sullivan County Animal Shelter at Massengill Road, Blountville, TN 37617.

We are deeply grateful to so many people who have comforted and cared for Pittman during the difficult last stages of her life. A very special thank you goes to Cheryl King who was Pittman's special friend and caregiver.
