Helen 'Juanita' Eller

Helen “Juanita” Gwyn Eller, 86, of Elk Park, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Roan Highlands Nursing Home.
She was born April 14, 1927 in Elk Park, a daughter of the late Nat and Bertha Winters Gwyn. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Sluder and Gladys Bailey; three brothers, Ernest Gwyn, John Gwyn and Ed Gwyn; nephew, Ralph Gwyn; two nieces, Patricia Surcey and Evelyn Austin.
Eller was a resident of Roan Highlands Nursing Home and a member of Elk Park Christian Church. She retired from Baxters Healthcare. She loved to read, loved animals and shopping with her friend Catherine Grindstaff.
Surviving are a daughter, Judy Tedder and husband, Raymond, of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; two sons, Tony Eller and wife, Jean, of Elk Park and Joey Eller and wife, Cathy, also of Elk Park; grandchildren: Cindy Thompson and husband, Wade, DeAnn Hughes and husband, Jeff, Wendy Turbyfill and husband, Joe, Maverick Tedder and girlfriend, August Wash, and Tyler Eller and girlfriend, Tessa Gunner; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Blair, Janet Ledford, Shannon Hicks, Daniel Hughes, Kimberly Noble, Bo Hughes, Nicki Christman and Lauren Thompson; great-great grandchildren: Madison Hicks, Natalie Hicks, Garrett Johnson, Mason Johnson, Isaiah Ledford, Caleb Ledford, Samuel Hughes and Raina Christman; nieces and nephews, Rita Storie, Shirley Grindstaff, Winfred Sluder and Wesley Sluder.
Graveside services were held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Elk Park Cemetery. The Rev. John McCoury will officiate.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Roan Highlands Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to Ms. Eller.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the Avery County Humane Society, 279 Vale Road, Newland, NC 28657.
