Howard Dellinger, born April 12, 1930, of Henson Creek, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Avery County, he was a son of the late Oliver and Ethel Gragg Dellinger. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sandra Gay Dellinger and two sisters, Helen Young and Iva Lee Burleson. Howard was a member of Henson Creek Baptist Church. He operated a saw mill for a number of years and had many hobbies.
Surviving is his loving wife of 62 years, Marie Greene Dellinger; three sons, Michael Dellinger and wife, Joyce, and Randall Dellinger and wife, Joann, all of Henson Creek and Jeffrey Dellinger and wife, Rena, of Little Buck Hill; sister, Inez Self and husband, Jimmy, of Little Buck Hill; brother, Homer Dellinger and wife, Sue, of Henson Creek; five grandchildren, Tim Dellinger, Dustin Dellinger, Jonathan Dellinger, Christopher Dellinger and Sarah Dellinger; six great-grandchildren, Cannan, Noah, Calvary, Megan, Luke and Hunter.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at Henson Creek Baptist Church and will be officiated by the Rev. Earl Carver, Jr. Burial will follow in the Pittman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be; Hunter Dellinger, Jonathan Dellinger, Dustin Dellinger, Chris Dellinger, Marlin Jones and Ronnie Wise. Honorary pallbearer will be Luke Dellinger. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at the church.
