Illene Kilpatrick

Illene Kilpatrick, 62, of Panama City, Fla., died Dec. 1, 2013, in Pensacola, Fla.

She was born Oct. 6, 1951, in Florala, Al., to Wilburn Travis and Helen Parrish Kilpatrick.
Kilpatrick grew up on a farm in the Laurel Hill, Fla., area and graduated from Laurel Hill School in 1969. After high school, she traveled and settled in the High Country region of North Carolina.

She attained many degrees in nursing and remained in that field until ill health forced her retirement in 2009. Family, caring for others, health, nutrition, mother nature, and the written word consumed most of her life. She was a member of Christian Home Methodist Church, as well as Crossnore First Baptist Church.

Kilpatrick was preceded in death by a sister, Julie. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Jones of Crestview; son, Travis Kilpatrick McKinney of Crossnore; sisters, Rebecca Burns of Pensacola and Anita Boyett and husband, T.C., of Dawsonville, Ga.; and brother, Scotty Kilpatrick and wife, Deborah, of Laurel Hill.

Services for Kilpatrick were conducted 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, from Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. C Edward Britton officiating. Visitation was one hour before services.
