John R. Arthurs
John R. Arthurs, 81, of Plumtree, and Bradenton, Fla., passed away Jan. 7, 2012, at his home in Bradenton, Fla.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory in Bradenton, Fla.
He was born Nov. 13, 1930, in Oil City, Penn., to the late Boyd and Beatrice Arthurs. He graduated from Cincinnati College of Embalming and was a licensed funeral director, retired. Arthurs is remembered for his care and compassion as he ministered to those in their time of loss and grief.
He was a member of Minneapolis Christian Church, and Westside Christian Church in Bradenton, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Berle Arthurs.
Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Betty B. Arthurs of the home; daughters, Kathy (Steve) Avant of Rockingham, Christine (Jack) Reynolds of Altamonte Springs, Fla., and Nancy (Bill) Elmore of Bradenton, Fla.; grandchildren, Paul (Nikki) Davis, Tami (Adam) McInnis, Jacqueline (Stephen) Petty, Jennifer Reynolds, Jessica Reynolds, Emily Elmore and Will Elmore; and great grandchildren, Michael Davis, Tabitha Reeves, Cailey Davis and Toby McInnis. He is also survived by his sister, Eileen Kendig, brother, Norman Arthurs, and sister-in-law Wilma Arthurs.
Arthurs loved his family deeply and will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him. We rejoice that one day we will see him again in heaven.
