Levi Michael Maltba

Levi Michael Maltba, 22, of Marion passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at the McDowell Hospital, surrounded by those who loved him, after a two year, three day battle with cancer.
Born in Watauga County, on Aug. 13, 1990, he was the son of Newt Phyllmore Maltba, Jr. of Altamont and Polly Maltba of Marion.
An avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman, Levi was a kind and fun loving son, brother, uncle and fiancée. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was a volunteer with the Sugar Hill Fire Department. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jerry and Jean Dugger.
In addition to his parents, Levi is survived by his adoptive parents, Charles and Sherie Presnell; his loving fiancée, Amber Morgan, of Marion; paternal grandparents, Newt and Gail Maltba of Altamont; adopted grandparents, Stuart and Eileen Buchanan of Green Mountain; adopted grandmother, Thelma Presnell of Marion; one brother, Larry Maltba of Marion; one sister, Deziree Maltba of Marion; adoptive brothers, Corey and Garrett Presnell of the home; nephew, Bentley Austin Milam of Marion; and a number of uncles and aunts. Last but not least, he is also survived by his loving pet dog, Ruskles Maltba.
A funeral service were held 11 a.m.Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Upton and the Rev. Russell Hoilman officiating. Interment followed at Maltba Family Cemetery in Avery County. The family received friends from 10 to 11 a.m., one hour prior to the service, at the church.

Westmoreland Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
