Lucille Sparks
Lucille Sparks, 86, of Canton, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, surrounded by her family.
Born Oct. 7, 1925, in Newland, to the late Starlin and Jodie (Benfield) Calhoun, Sparks was a Canton resident since 1946 and a member of Sword of the Spirit Faith Center.
Sparks was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Newton G. Sparks, in 2006; one brother, Coye Calhoun; four sisters, Amey Sparks, Comeylee Sluder, Iris Cooper and Agnes Cooper. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Tom Jones of Fairmount, Ind.; one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Regina Sparks of Massillon, Ohio; four grandchildren, James Sparks of Canton, Ohio, David (Elisa) Sparks of Massillon, Ohio, Stephen Jones of Hagerstown, Ind., and Bethany Jones of Fairmount, Ind.; two great-granddaughters, Kamryn and Kendyl Sparks, both of Massillon, Ohio; two sisters and brother-in-law, Clara Wise of Nebo, Nell and Skeeze Cuthbertson of Crossnore; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends and neighbors on 38th Street SW in Canton, Ohio.
Funeral services for Sparks were held Feb. 9, 2012, at Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home, with Sparks’ son-in-law, Dr. Thomas G. Jones, officiating. Interment followed in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
