Martha Carolyn Shook

Martha Carolyn Shook, 64, of Banner Elk, passed away on April 22, 2013, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.
A native of Carter County, she was born June 6, 1948, a daughter of the late Charlie Tom and Ethel Freeman Stout.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting and flowers.
Shook was a member of White Rock Baptist Church and had volunteered for the Grandfather Academy as a Guardian Ad Litem.
Along with her parents, Shook was preceded in death by her son, Larry W. Shook.
A loving and caring wife and mother, who never met a stranger and was always there to help anyone who needed it, Shook has left to cherish her memory her: husband, Larry B. Shookof the home; daughter, Tina Shook of Banner Elk; daughter-in-law, Karen Shook of Banner Elk; grandchildren, Neil Colledge of Tampa,Fla., Kristina Muratori of Clearwater, Fla., Anthony Muratori of Dunedin, Fla., Matt Muratori of Palm Harbor, Fla.; great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Davis of Clearwater, Fla.; mother-in-law, Katherine Shook of Banner Elk; sisters, Charlotte Davis and husband, Charles, of Hickory, Sue Roberts of Roan Mountain;Tenn.; brothers, Raymond Stout and wife, Teresa, of Roan Mountain, Richard Stout and wife, Becky, of Hickory, Greg Stout and wife, Becky, of Watauga, Tenn., Charlie Stout of Hampton, Tenn.. Lincoln Stout of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; step-mother, Wanda Stout of Roan Mountain. Tenn.
Funeral services for Shook were conducted 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the Grandfather Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Shook, the Rev. John McCoury and the Rev. Jerry McCoury officiated. The family received friends from 6 p.m. to the service hour. Family, friends and pallbearers were asked to meet at the funeral home 10:15 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, to go in procession to the Freeman Cemetery for graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Heart Association at 202 Centre Point Drive, Greensboro, NC 27409.
