Priscilla Brewer Waycaster

Priscilla Brewer Waycaster, 67, of Newland, passed away, Friday, June 7, 2013, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Aflax, Ky., on June 27, 1945, a daughter of the late Kenneth Brewer and Etta Moody Brewer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Brewer, Robert Ray Brewer, Edward Brewer and the Rev. Jimmy Brewer and a sister, Juanita Cuthbertson.
Waycaster was a loving and devoted wife and grandmother. She was a graduate of Appalachian State University and was a teacher with Avery County Schools for 36 years. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Montezuma, where she served as treasurer.
Waycaster is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Paul Waycaster of the home; three sons, Paul Raymond Waycaster of North Wilkesboro, Clay (Missy) Waycaster of Newland, Travis (Beth) Waycaster of Newland; three grandsons, J. C. Waycaster, Trey Waycaster, Ethan Johnson; granddaughter, Jessica Waycaster; sister, Barbara Styles of Newland; two brothers, Kenneth (Dorothy) Brewer of Heaton, Roy (Brenda) Brewer of Newland; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the Staff of Medi Home Hospice and the Staff of the Seby Jones Cancer Center for all the love and care shown to Waycaster during her illness.
The family gathered with friends 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013, at the funeral home. A service to Celebrate the Life of Waycaster was held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, in the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Aldridge officiating. Music was under the direction of the Calvary Baptist Church Choir.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Medi Home Hospice, PO Box 1357 Newland, NC 28657.
