Richard Paul Cannon

Richard Paul Cannon, 79, of Statesville, passed away on May 9, 2013, at the Gordon Hospice House.
A native of Avery County, he was born May 21, 1933, a son of the late William Joseph and Annie Norman Cannon.
He was a CPR in the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean War. Cannon was the owner/operator of Cannon Motors, Inc. of Statesville for 35 years.
Along with his parents, Cannon was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Cook; and brothers, James Cannon, Samuel Cannon, Clarence Cannon.
Cannon has left to cherish his memory his wife, Anna Cannon of the home; sons, Jack Allen Cox Jr. and wife, Sheila, of Mt. Airy, Anthony Cannon of Statesville; sister, Dorothy Dugger of Elizabethton; brother, Bobby Cannon and wife, Lucy, of the Czech Republic; granddaughters, Emily Cox Clement, David Allen Cox; great-granddaughter, Ila Jo Clement.
Funeral services for Richard Paul Cannon will be conducted on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Elk Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Carver and Rev. Richard Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in the Elk Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour.
