Ruth Emma Johnson Lipps

Ruth Emma Johnson Lipps, 76, of Hickory, passed away on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Frye Regional Medical Center.

Born June 6, 1936, in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Martin Van Buren Johnson and Beulah Patrick Gragg Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Frank Lipps; one son, John Frank “Johnny” Lipps Jr.

Lipps was a member of the the 700 Club, and a Salt Covenant Partner with John Hagee Ministries.

She is survived by her two daughters, Suzy Lail and husband, Roger, of Hickory, Kimberly Farley and husband, Kelly, of Hickory; grandchildren, Johnny Frank Lipps (Josh) of Wilmington, Amanda Buff and husband, Todd, of Hickory, Jonathan Eckard of Hickory, Patrick Carpenter of Hickory, Jennifer Mclain and husband, Josh, of Hickory, and Hunter Lail of Hickory; great-grandchildren, Devin Lipps, Makayla Buff, Ryleigh Dague, Avery Dague, Jaxson Mclain, and Karson Buff, all of Hickory.

Services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Bass-Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Garden of Hickory. The family will receive friends 1:30 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at Bass-Smith Funeral Home.
