Ruth Richardson
Ruth Webb Richardson, 72, of Rockingham, former resident of
Avery County, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2012, at her home.
Richardson was born Sept. 23, 1939, in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Platt and Alma Diggs Webb. She was a member of West Rockingham United Methodist Church and had retired from Avery County Home Health as a registered nurse.
She was a graduate of Rockingham High School and Hamlet School of Nursing. Her husband, George Edwin Richardson, a brother, Harold Webb, and a grandson, Dillon Stout, preceded her in death.
Surviving are sons, George E. Richardson Jr. of Spruce Pine, W. Michael Richardson of Beech Mountain; daughters, Connie R. Vance of Holden Beach, Jennie R. Jordan of Beech Mountain; nine grandchildren; brother, John Webb of Ellerbe; and sisters, Libby Hathcock, Betty Arnette and Linda Davis, all of Rockingham.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at West Rockingham United Methodist Church with Rev. Ben Horton officiating. Interment followed in Richmond County Memorial Park.
