Ruth Von Canon Cooper

Ruth Wicker Von Canon Cooper, 92, passed away in Smithfield, Va., on Aug. 7, 2013, after a lengthy illness.

Cooper was born in Banner Elk, July 12, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Frederick W. Von Canon and Margaret Abernathy Von Canon. She was preceded in death by husband, Wallace G. Cooper; brothers, John Von Canon, Douglas Von Canon, Chester Von Canon and sister, Elizabeth Ford.

She resided for many years in Bristol, Tenn., where she was a jewelry designer and artisan. She later relocated to Allentown, Pa. and then Smithfield, Va.

She is survived by son, Gordon Marc Cooper and wife, Patricia, of Smithfield, Va., and son, Stephen E. Cooper and wife, Heidi, of Allentown, Pa. Also surviving are sister, Louise Holshouser of Banner Elk, and brother, Jacob Von Canon of Reagan, Texas. She leaves three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She will be memorialized in a private ceremony at a later date.
