A native of Avery county, she was born, Nov. 12, 1910, a daughter of the late John Wesley and Rosa Burleson Forbes.
She was a member of the Linville Evangelical Methodist Church. Hampton had worked for many years as the hostess for Esseola Lodge and enjoyed cooking, canning, and being with her family.
Along with her parents, Hampton was preceded in death by her: husband, Francis Marion Hampton; brothers, Murphy Forbes, Cody Forbes, Carson Forbes, John W. Forbes, Jr.; sisters, Agnes Henley, Myrtle Greene, Elsie Harmon, Edna Forbes, Margaret Shell, and Josephine Turlington.
Hampton has left to cherish her memory a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Thelma Hampton will held 2 p.m Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, in the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with Dr. Ken Harper and the Rev. John McCoury officiating. Interment will follow in the Tanglewood cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home.
