Viola Buchanan Woody
Viola Buchanan Woody, 89, of Claremont went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Catawba Regional Hospice following a period of declining health.
Mrs. Woody was born on July, 25 1923, in Avery County to the late Greene and Harriet Buchanan. She was a seamstress, homemaker, and member of Abee’s Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Coy Woody, brothers Addie, Jesse, and Ernie Buchanan.
Survivors include her children, Mary Lou Cook and husband, Larry, of Valdese, Bea Woody and husband, Jolly, of Claremont, Robert Woody and wife, Rochella, of Valdese; grandchildren Holly Johnson, Michelle Fortune, Robin Dula, Douglas Woody, Shane Woody, Heather Link and Heidi Hefner; great-grandchildren Lindsey Johnson, David and Adam Dula, Hannah, Brooke and Titus Hefner, Colby and Josh Link and Abby and Lilly Woody. Also surviving are one sister Mrs. Bea Wise of Spruce Pine; and two brothers Bernie Buchanan of Pineola, and Sammy Buchanan of Hickory.
Funeral Services will be held 12 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at Abee’s Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Buddy Sizemore and the Rev. Pat Mourglea officiating. Interment will follow in the Abee’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 to 12 p.m. at Abee’s Chapel Baptist Church.
