Wallace Taylor, 76, of Marion,
passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Autumn Care of Marion.
A native of Avery County, he was born March 21, 1937, the son of the late Arthur and Cathy Phillips Taylor. He retired from Henredon after several years of service and in his spare time, enjoyed working in his garden. Taylor attended Old Fort Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Woody Taylor, and a number of brothers and sisters.
Taylor is survived by his daughter, Wanda Powell of Marion; two grandchildren, Holly and Travis Powell; one great-grandson, Braxton Habanec; three brothers, Harold, Don, and William Taylor; and four sisters, Lucy Carpenter, Louise Tate, Lillian Wall, and Ruth Burleson.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church in Newland with the Rev. Bruce Ward officiating. Taylor will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion.
